Incorrect answer.
You cannot create *.cohowinery-apps.com record in cohowinery.com zone!
Here is how new alias dialog looks like:

Correct answer:
1. In DNS Manager, create a new Forward Lookup Zone named cohowinery-apps.com
2. In the Alias Name field, enter *.cohowinery-apps.com
3. In the Fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for target host field enter the FQDN for the server that hosts the SharePoint site
I do not concur.
On what information do you base your statement: “You cannot create *.cohowinery-apps.com record in cohowinery.com zone!”
In a domain in the Forward Lookup Zones an alias can (ofcourse) point to an other domain and the used alias has little restrictions.
The answer sugested is correct.
1. In DNS Manager, right-click the cohowinery.com domain, and then click New Alias (CNAME)
2. In the Alias Name field, enter *.cohowinery-apps.com
3. In the Fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for target host field enter the FQDN for the server that hosts the SharePoint site

I agree with Alex, Ben’s link does not have anything to do with SharePoint.
Here’s a link to the SharePoint config needed: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236.aspx#Anchor_1
Yeah, Alex is right.
Based on the Training Kit, I agree with Alex. However, it seems not all correct actions are available. The alias should be a CNAME alias referring to *.contosoapps.com
