You are the Office 365 administrator for your company. The company uses Office 365
ProPlus and has multiple Microsoft SharePointOnline sites.
The company recently started a project that requires employees to collaborate with external
users on the development of a set of documents that are stored in a team site.
You need to ensure that external users can access and edit the documents without affecting
the security of other content.
What should you do?
A.
Create a new SharePoint team site and share it by using the Share function and adding
the external users to the Visitors group.
B.
Create a new SharePoint team site and share it by using the Share function and adding
the external users to the Contributors group.
C.
Share the existing SharePoint team site by using the Share function and adding the
external users to the Visitors group.
D.
Share the existing SharePoint team site by using the Share function and adding the
external users to the Contributors group.
According to recommended practice (by course 20346B book) – better create site collection (or sub-site) dedicated to external user sharing and grant access to it directly (contribute – for editing possibilities).
Answer is B
The questions states the company already started the project but doesn’t say they’ve already created a site. If they had already created the site I would have gone with D because it would have been created for the sole purpose of collaborating with external users.
It actually says that they need to share documents that are in a team site. That is tricky wording as I initially thought D since it was in an existing team site. However, what it doesn’t say is there is a possibility that there is other content that they shouldn’t be able to manage on that existing site so B has to be right. Curse you MSFT!
Answer would be B.
Damm you MSFT. I would have gone with D but for the last paragraph that states as Big Twenty indicated affecting other content on the site. So create a new one and share the documents there. BBBBBBB
