Ok, so the trick was in the ‘copy-vmfile’ cmdlet…
” In Windows Server 2012 R2, a new integration service has been added, Guest services. Guest services enables the copying of files to a VM using WMI APIs or using the new Copy-VMFile Windows PowerShell cmdlet.”
