You have to Transfer the PDC Emulator. Not sure why. Don’t get why this FSMO is still a Thing. Not really applicable since Win NT. Maybe for Legacy applications.

@Niels, PDC Emulator is still used for a bunch of things, such as tracking password changes to AD object, hence it is required to create a new AD object for the clone of DC6…
The PDC emulator needs to be on windows server 2012 r2 as the cloning machine

The support for cloning a virtualized domain controllerwas introduced with Windows Server
2012. The environment for cloning must meet the following requirements:
■ PDC emulator FSMO role hosted on Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2
domain controller
■ PDC emulator available during the cloning operation
■ Clone source and target of Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2
■ Virtualization host platform supports VM-Generation ID (VMGID)
The PDC emulator operations master role must be online and held by a pc running win server 2012 or 2012 r2
