Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The domain
contains two member servers named Server1 and Server2. All servers run Windows Server
2012 R2.
Server1 and Server2 have the Failover Clustering feature installed. The servers are
configured as nodes in a failover cluster named Cluster1.
You add two additional nodes in Cluster1.
You have a folder named Folder1 on Server1 that hosts Application data. Folder1 is a folder
target in a Distributed File System (DFS) namespace.
You need to provide highly available access to Folder1. The solution must support DFS
Replication to Folder1.
What should you configure?
A.
Affinity-None
B.
Affinity-Single
C.
The cluster quorum settings
D.
The failover settings
E.
A file server for general use
F.

G.

The Scale-Out File Server
https://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/hh831349.aspx
That’s weird !!!
The english site https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831349.aspx reports DFS folder target server is supported on SOFS. So L: whould be correct
Nope, DFSR is NOT supported on SOFS according to that webpage!
If you check this link, scroll down a bit, there’s a table which explains which clustered File Server configuration supports what.
If you search for DFS you can clearly see that it is not supported in SoFS deployments.
E. A file server for general use
see the first capture on this link : http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2013/12/05/to-scale-out-or-not-to-scale-out-that-is-the-question.aspx
See the capture under capabilities in the same document
DFS Namespace (DFSN) folder target server
Yes for File Server for General use
Yes for SOFS and SOFS is specially used for application data which is mentioned in the question
Also in http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2012/08/26/dfs-namespace-scalability-considerations.aspx
DFSN folder targets can be SMB shares on a Scale-Out File Server
Is this a trick question ? At least it is unclear which DFS function is supported or not
Can be narrowed down to E or L.
DFS is not supported by SOFS so it is E.
E. for sure. The wizard says SOFS does not support DFS Replication, which is the requirement in this case.
E = Answer
Question asks “The solution must support DFS Replication to Folder1.”

File ManagementDFS Replication (DFSR)YesNo
SOFS does not support DFS Replication!!!
Should be L, DFS Targets are supported for SOFS. Root servers however are not.:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831349(v=ws.11).aspx
This question states DFS Target Servers.
It would be E if we were talking about root servers as I’ve just explained.
WTF are you on about? File server for general use definitely supports DFS Targets. Also, SOFS doesn’t support DFS replication, which is exactly what the question asked.
Answer E is correct .Read the question last line “…The solution must support DFC replication to Folder1”
SOF is not supported DFS relication.
