The forest contains two domains named contoso.com and fabrikam.com.

Why external trust?
It is not said that adatum.com is an Active Directory domain. It is said it is a domain outside the forest. It may be anything else.
I would think the answer is C.

It’s an external trust because the functional level of the forest is Windows Server 2003. To be an External Trust the Functional level has to be below 2008.

A should be the correct answer here.
