Company Background
Redbridge Associates in a legal services company based in USA. The company has 700
employees in two offices. The main office in Atlanta has 500 users and the branch office in Seattle
has 200 users.
Existing Environment
Existing Active Directory Environment
The network consists of a single Active Directory domain named RedbridgeAssociates.com.
Each office is configured as a separate Active Directory site.
All users in both offices have desktop computers that run Windows XP Professional. 100 users in
the New York office also have laptop computers that run Windows XP Professional.
All servers in the New York office run Windows Server 2012. The company has recently deployed
a Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (Configuration Manager) infrastructure to
be used for the deployment of Operating Systems, application updates and Windows Updates in
the New York office. The Configuration Manager infrastructure includes a Distribution Point server
and a Primary Site Server.
Network Infrastructure
The two offices are connected by a high latency unreliable WAN link. Each office has a reliable
Internet connection.
Planned Changes
The company plans to deploy a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) in the New York office. All
laptop users in the New York office will have their desktop computers replaced by virtual desktops.
The remaining desktop computers in the New York office will be replaced with new hardware.
20 new desktop computers will be purchased and deployed to the Seattle office.
Windows 8 will be deployed to the new desktop computers and the virtual desktops.
All company users use a line-of-business application named CorpApp. The application is installed
