In order to prepare 2008 and 2008 R2 servers to be managed by a 2012 server you must first install certain packages and hotfixes.
As a prerequisite, you’ll need to install:
.NET Framework 4.5 if you are using a Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview to manage the other servers.
.NET Framework 4 if you are using a Windows Server 2012 to manage the other servers.
Download: Download and Install the Windows Management Framework:
Windows Management Framework 4.0 if you are using a Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview to manage the other servers.
Windows Management Framework 3.0 if you are using a Windows Server 2012 to manage the other servers.
Hotfix: In order to enable server manager to retrieve Performance Counters from Windows Server 2008 SP2 or Windows Server 2008 R2 servers, the following hotfix needs to in installed:
