If VLANS cannot do packet filtering, I don’t know what they do then?
Of course they do packet filtering hence better security. Vlan add a tag so they will be transmitted just to the right VLAN. (That is a filter)
VLANS don’t make thing easier, by the contrary is one more configuration to make.
