why not for Intusion Detection ?
Intrusion Detection, and really any network device should have synchronized time, but it won’t fail if the clock is wrong.
If you IDS system is 20 minutes off, you simply have to add/subtract 20 minutes in the log to correlate to logs from other devices.
The key word I suppose is “must be set up”. Truly however if the time is close, as if you set it every day when you came in Kerberos (not Kerkeros) and PKI will work just fine.
