B&C
Command and Control Interface (also known as Management Interface): Used for managing and configuring the sensor. It has a Layer MAC address and a Layer 3 IP address that is permanently enabled. It receives security and status events from the sensor and queries the sensor for statistics. The Command and Control interface is statically mapped to a specific physical interface depending on the sensor model. This mapping cannot be changed, and this interface cannot be used as a sensing interface.

Sensing Interface (also known as Sniffing Interface): Purpose-built interfaces used by the sensor to monitor and analyze network traffic. Each sensor has one or more sensing interfaces, depending on the sensor model. Sensing interfaces can operate individually in promiscuous mode, or they can be paired to create inline interfaces for inline sensing mode.
