This a very confusing question. If the AP lost its configuration, you should reboot it. It should get IP address and default gateway by DHCP, and then find the controllers with normal procedure. Why do I have to configure IP address, DG and controller IP address? Can somebody explain me?

More information needed, but if we’re going based off of no DHCP and DNS not being configured to find the WLC, then yeah, it works.
