Layer 3 routing is needed to implement communication between VLANs, so a trunk link is configured between ROuter and Switch2. Both Switchl and Switch2own VLAN3 and VLAN4 members, so a trunk link is configured between Switchl and Switch2.

First of all for those who do not know one of THE MOST BASICS about reading the status of an interface, “Serial 0/0 is down” automatically signifies a Layer 1 issue. Every cisco admin knows that the IF status is broken into 2 parts, “Serial 0/0 is down” means that there is some type of PHYSICAL problem, and if it did matter for this question WHICH IT DOES NOT BECAUSE YOU CANNOT HAVE A LAYER 2 PROBLEM IF LAYER 1 IS NOT WORKING, “Line protocol is down” means that there is a LAYER 2 PROBLEM.
So obviously you can eliminate B, C, and E because NONE OF THOSE WILL WORK WITHOUT LAYER 1 CONNECTIVITY. Jesus christ. READ…..
A serial connection can be down for:
No clock
Encapsulation mismatch
Admin down
Wrong IP will not matter
Correct A. A real ccna spoke all.
Real CCNA . Thanx for the explanation
A serial connection can be down for:
No clock <—- Layer 2 Issue
Encapsulation mismatch <—- Layer 2 Issue
Admin down <—- Not any layer issue, Turned Off.
None of these apply to an interface that is Down/Down
If the interface is admin'd down, it will read "administratively down, line protocol is down"
No Clock = Serial0/0 is up, line protocol is down (disabled)
Encapsulation mismatch = Serial0/0 is up, line protocol is down (disabled)
