One is an Ethernet frame from Host 1 to Router and he second is PPP frame between routers. The third is also an Ethernet so it doesn’t count (different frames)

As I studied more this question it hits me the word “frame”. I believe is all about this word, so the answer should be D, because the packet will be encapsulated in 3 different frames. The first it will be the L2 frame from PC to R1, the second L2 frame from R1 to R2 and the third L2 frame from R2 to server.

I think everyone is not counting that the pc should encapsulate the packet as well.

I think the packet is encasulated 4 times.

1. The packet is encapsulated from the pc itself.
2. The switch gets the packet decaps to see the real mac and send it over the correct link. Then encapsulate the packet one more time.
3. The router1.
4. The router2.
