why???
That’s my though. B can’t be right because there are no DR’s or BDR’s on point-to-point links because there is no election as its unnecessary. Only E is correct here. My thought is D is actually supposed to be the other correct one but it is mistyped and it says R2 instead of R3 since R2 isn’t even on the 10.1.1.0 network.
I’am not sure about the theories but based on the topology, i think, there are no BRs and BDRs for p2p links like what you said but the connection bet R3 and R1 is connected via switch using FA cables, i think, DRs and BDRs are allowed on that connection while p2p between serials are not. so the FA of R3 connected to R1 has the higher address which will then be elected as the DR of network 10.1.1.0
The output [172.16.2.5 1 FULL/BDR 10.1.1.1 FastEthernet0/0]
-indicates that 10.1.1.1 of R1 is indeed the BDR of the network 10.1.1.0 while the FA 10.1.1.2 of R3 is the DR of which it has the higher ip add.
