Which two of these statements regarding RSTP are correct? (Choose two.)
A.
RSTP cannot operate with PVST+.
B.
RSTP defines new port roles.
C.
RSTP defines no new port states.
D.
RSTP is a proprietary implementation of IEEE 802.1D STP.
E.
RSTP is compatible with the original IEEE 802.1D STP.
Key things to keep in mind:
1. RSTP elects root switch same as STP
2. RSTP elects root ports on non root switches the same as STP
3. RSTP elects designated ports the same as STP
4. RSTP converges fast then STP. Thats the big difference.
A. is incorrect because they can operate together.
C. is incorrect because RSTP uses Forwarding, Discarding and learning. STP uses Forwarding, Blocking, Listening, and Learning.
D. is incorrect because RSTP is not proprietary its 802.1w. However, PVST+ is proprietary to CISCO.
B. is correct because RSTP adds 3 new port roles: Alternate, backup and disabled.
E. is correct because RSTP is compatable with STP
The correct answers are A and B. Per the Cisco Press book PVST+ does not support RSTP. PVRST supports RSTP.
