The default number of equal-cost paths that can be placed into the routing of a Cisco OSPF router is 4. We can change this default value by using “maximum-paths” command:
Router(config-router)#maximum-paths 2
Note: Cisco routers support up to 16 equal-cost paths. In detail, the default number of maximum paths is 32 for Cisco CRS-1 routers and 16 for Cisco XR 12000 Series Routers. The range is from 1 to 32 for Cisco CRS-1 routers and 1 to 16 for Cisco XR 12000 Series Routers.

Sorry guys but the default number of equal-cost paths that can be placed into the routing of a Cisco OSPF router is 8.I don’t see it in proposals
i wants some info about that will you me your e-mail id my id is [email protected]
plz contact me some one else [email protected]
I think that the right answer is 16 or at least is that Cisco web says: The range for maximum paths is 1 to 16 and the default number of maximum paths is 16.
That the link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/xr12000/software/xr12k_r4.1/routing/configuration/guide/routing_cg41xr12k_chapter4.html
But I’m confuse because When I use packet Tracer to make a lab, I configure a ospf with the default options and when a write the #show ip protocols command, show me that the maximum-path configured (by default) is 4.
I’m using Packet tracert version 6.0.1.
I don’t understand anything. Help!!
Thanks for sharing nice post. It is good if you post configuration + Example. If any one want to know OSPF Load Balancing in broadcast network, try to bellow link, that has nice description with example + Diagram.
