It looks like the answer should have been A because 0 is the network

Answer C is a valid ip address in the /24 or 1-254 subnet.

The answer is C

First the default gateway is 192.168.204.254 (no subnet mask is specified)

Answer A: Cannot be the answer because that would be the network ID for 192.168.204.0/27 (The zero network). The way subnetting is done, the host portion of any subnet cannot equal 0.

Answer B: This would not be suitable because if it were to change it to /27, then the default gateway would be on a different subnet. The last usable IP address would be 192.168.204.30.

Answer D: This cannot be the user IP address, simply because its already been taken by the default gateway.

Hope this helps, any question don’t be afraid to ask.

Answer A is a different network ID with CIDR /27

Answer B although the IP seem similar, the subnet mask is different CIDR /27

Answer C With a CIDR /24 you have 256 IPs – 2, 1 for the network and 1 for the broadcast leaving you with 254 available IPs in which the GW is already using one (192.168.204.254).

Network: 192.168.204.0
First Host: 192.168.204.1
Last Host: 192.168.204.254 – used by the GW
Broadcast: 192.168.204.255

Answer D – Its the GW.
