RAID is a Redundant Array of Inexpensive disks, i.e. a collection of disks with (usually) some form of fault tolerance built in.
JBOD on the other hand is Just a Bunch Of Disks, and does not have fault tolerance built in. A JBOD enclosure can be attached as a disk to a RAID array however, in order to provide larger potential disk arrays with RAID fault tolerance.
