What are two benefits of installing Grid Infrastructure software for a stand-alone server before
installing and creating an Oracle database?

A.
Effectively implements role separation

B.
Enables you to take advantage of Oracle Managed Files.

C.
Automatically registers the database with Oracle Restart.

D.
Helps you to easily upgrade the database from a prior release.

E.
Enables the Installation of Grid Infrastructure files on block or raw devices.

Explanation:
B: If you plan to use Oracle Restart or Oracle Automatic Storage Management
(Oracle ASM), then you must install Oracle Grid Infrastructure before you install and create the
database.
C: To use Oracle ASM or Oracle Restart, you must first install Oracle Grid Infrastructure
for a standalone server before you install and create the database. Otherwise, you must
manually register the database with Oracle Restart.
Note.
The Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server provides the infrastructure to
include your single-instance database in an enterprise grid architecture. Oracle
Database 12c combines these infrastructure products into one software installation
called the Oracle Grid Infrastructure home. On a single-instance database, the Oracle
Grid Infrastructure home includes Oracle Restart and Oracle Automatic Storage
Management (Oracle ASM) software.

It should be C and E. I am saying E because 12.1 allows you to put oracle installation files on ACFS using ASM and that allows ASM to make use of raw devices to be formatted using ASM first. This ASM is installed as part of oracle restart and hence E option looks valid apart from option C.

“Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server, also known as Oracle Restart, provides system support for a single-instance Oracle Database. This support includes volume management, file system, and automatic restart capabilities. If you plan to use Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM), then you must install Oracle Restart before installing your database. Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server includes Oracle Restart and Oracle Automatic Storage Management.”

The “official” answer given mentions ASM as the reason why B is right. The question only asks about OMF. OMF works fine on filesystems, and on ASM. If the question is fishing for that ASM is part of the GI, then E is right too, as ASM lies on the raw devices and thus enables your use of them.
