You are the Security Administrator for MegaCorp. A Check Point firewall is installed and in use on
a platform using GAiA. You have trouble configuring the speed and duplex settings of your
Ethernet interfaces. Which of the following commands can be used in Expert Mode to configure
the speed and duplex settings of an Ethernet interface and will survive a reboot? Give the BEST
answer.
A.
eth_set
B.
mii_tool
C.
ifconfig -a
D.
ethtool
Explanation:
[Expert@r76:0]# eth_set
Usage: eth_set []
“[Expert@r76:0]# eth_set
Usage: eth_set []”
Well this is interesting. Tried eth_set in Gaia R77.20 and always comes up with error eth_set: line xx: config: command not found. It could be bug.
In expert mode “ethtool -s eth0 speed 10 duplex full autoneg on” went OK without error.
Tried this on SPLAT R76 and worked like a charm.
Usage: eth_set (interface) (speed)
eth_set eth0 10f (where eth0 is interface you are configuring and 10f is speed 10Mbps f-full duplex)
Options for speed are listed after this command what is your network card capable of.
Looks like: NIC reported speed/duplex capabilities: 10h, 100h, 10f, 100f,1000f,autoneg
Not to confuse anyone:
eth_set is checkpoint’s command so above is correct
ethtool is linux command.
