Snapshot
The snapshot utility backs up everything, including the drivers, and is available only on SecurePlatform.
Snapshot can be used to backup both your firewall and management modules.
The disadvantages of this utility are that the generated file is very big, and can only be restored to the same device, and exactly the same state (same OS, same Check Point version, same patch level).

Ok, so this is very confusing. The question says:
“Restoring a snapshot-created file on one machine that was created on another…”
And the SK54100 & the CSSE stundetn books specifically says:
“and can only be restored to the same device..”
So, the answer should be: “IT CAN’T BE DONE”.
From documentation I conclude that a particular snapshot file can only be uploaded to the same appliance that generated it in the first place.
Can anybody confirm this?
Please dont confuse it
THe actual documentation: SK105385 says that “Snapshots are appliance-specific and can only be restored on the same hardware”
It s NOT the same device, but the sappliance e.g., if your busted system is a 4XXX model, then you need a replacement of a 4XXX model wth the same exact hardware (CPU architecture etc.)
