And it is true. The output of monitor command really looks like tcpdump.

tcpdump is a Unix utility.

tcpdump can be done in the Junos shell.
The cli command “monitor traffic interface ge-x/x/x” does have similar output.
Tail is a different unit command.
Googling snoop, I see its similar to tcpdump. Seems to be an option on firewalls.
But for MX/M/T routers, I believe they are referring to tcpdump.
