How does the SRX5800, in transparent mode, signal failover to the connected switches?
A.
It initiates spanning-tree BPDUs.
B.
It sends out gratuitous ARPs.
C.
It flaps the impaired interfaces.
D.
It uses an IP address monitoring configuration.
Explanation:
1- gratuitous ARPs not supported on transparent mode !!
2- IP address monitoring—Failure of an upstream device cannot be detected . so not supported on transparent mode !!
according to “http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos12.1/information-products/pathway-pages/security/security-layer2-bridging-transparent-mode.pdf”
i would believe the answer is “C”
“c” sure the answer
http://forums.juniper.net/t5/Junos/Flap-in-juniper-router/td-p/54498
Yes, should be C
http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos12.1/information-products/pathway-pages/security/security-layer2-bridging-transparent-mode.pdf
page. 17
The following chassis cluster features are NOT supported for devices in Layer 2 transparent
mode:
• Gratuitous ARP—The newly elected master in a redundancy group cannot send
gratuitous ARP requests to notify network devices of a change in mastership on the
redundant Ethernet interface links.
• IP address monitoring—Failure of an upstream device cannot be detected.
So I think C too
GARP doesn’t support in transparent mode. This question is asked in two way.
1.How does the SRX5800, in transparent mode, signal failover to the connected switches?
2.How does the SRX, in transparent mode, signal failover to the connected switches?
However, answer is same “It flaps the impaired interfaces”. Does not matter it’s Branch or High-end SRX.
-C- all life.
Juniper SRX Series, page 246. “the SRX flaps the old active interfaces up and down to trigger an STP recalculation.”
