Hello,
I do not understand the answer. The output length for MD5 is 128 bits.
Help is really welcome!
Thanks
Buz
128 bits = 16 chars
Notice that there are 4 files in the example so the answer is 48 char
Math is off but relook at the number of files
I did the Math and came up with 64 bytes/chars. So, I need someone to explain the answer also.
So, is anyone out there?
MD5 = 128 bits (4 – 32 bit words)
16 bytes (8 bits in a byte so 128/8)
32 characters in length.
A is wrong because MD5 is FOUR 32 bit words not one.
B is wrong because 128 bits is 16 bytes not 64.
C is wrong because MD5 is 32 characters in length not 48.
D is wrong because Kilobites is way off.
The question asks for the length of MD5. And the length of MD5 is always a 32 character hexidecimal number.
So all the answers are technically wrong. But the most correct will be the answer talking about characters.
Thanks for you explanation. Good point.
