Prerequisites Specific to Active Database Duplication
The source database must be mounted or open. If the source database is open, then archiving must be enabled. If the source database is not open, then it must have been shut down consistently.
Does this mean that if the source database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode we can also perform an active database duplication when the source database is mounted but not opened ?
Active database duplication use archivelogs, so database MUST be in archivelog mode
@Nanyick, just saying something is true is not enough, please provide a reason as to why we should believe your comments, to get you started try reading the documentation that our colleges are providing, if you do tests and find something in the documentation not to be true then please post details of the tests you ran with “full details”. I would be very interested in seeing them, otherwise please avoid making comments that you cannot substantiate.
yes you can, as long as the database was shutdown cleanly previously:

the quetsion is for ACTIVE duplication. for that you need archivelog mode.
