Which statement is true about the installation of Oracle Grid Infrastructure 12cR1 by using Oracle
Universal Installer (QUI)?
A.
You can use OUI to upgrade the entire Grid Infrastructure to 12cR1.
B.
You can use OUI to install Grid Infrastructure in an Oracle Restart configuration.
C.
You must use OUI to first install software only and then configure Oracle Clusterware and ASM.
D.
You can use OUI to upgrade Oracle ASM to more recent release than Oracle Clusterware.
E.
You can use OUI to install and configure a cluster that contains only hub nodes.
Explanation:
This appendix describes how to perform Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Automatic Storage
Management (Oracle ASM) upgradeshttps://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/procstop.htm#CWLIN10001
I Think B is correct.
C says “You Must”. C is an option but not must. Oracle recommends only Advanced Users should use this as it involves manual post installation steps.
Tricky question.
I think A is correct because you can upgrade the Grid Infrastructure using OUI (in a rolling or non-rolling manner)
B also seens to be correct, because you can install GI for a standalone server using OUI (./runInstaller)
In the RAC Bootcamp slides, slide 8 for “Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure” it says as details for the “Cluster Type”
-Oracle Flex Cluster
– can consist of only HUB-nodes
– if a leaf-node has access to shared storage, it can performa role change to a HUB-node.
Then the Recommendation is
-an all HUB-node Flex Cluster behaves the same as a Standard Cluster using Flex ASM.
-either can be used, but if in doubt, you can choose standard cluster and convert later.
That means that E could be true…I currently am leaning towards B, because the descriptions of the top options at this page include the language in B.
http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/crsunix.htm#CWLIN319
B is incorrect.
To add a database to the CRS stack, we need to use the Server Control (SRVCTL) command.
Correct answer is E.
You can use OUI to install and configure a cluster that contains only hub nodes.
I think A is correct.
B is wrong, as Oracle Restart is deprecated (https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/UPGRD/deprecated.htm#UPGRD60149)
A
A
A: true, see http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/procstop.htm#CWLIN10001
B: Oracle Restart is deprecated, see Kris comment
C: false, “you can” but not “you must”
D: probably false, leaf nodes can not be configured with OUI
My understanding:
A: False. OUI only upgrades Cluster. ASMCA upgrades the ASM. http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/procstop.htm
B: Right. It’s deprecated, but doable and well documented. https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/LADBI/oraclerestart.htm
C: False: “you can” but not “you must”
D: False: OUI only upgrades Cluster. ASMCA upgrades the ASM.
E: Right. On the “Add cluster node” step of OUI you can create an all HUB nodes setup.
Sorry, A is true as well. OUI does a in-place upgrade for both Clusterware and ASM, out-of-place upgrade needs asmca.
