GROUP BY clause must contain only aggregates or grouping columns.

In other words, expressions in the GROUP BY clause can contain any columns of the tables in the FROM clause, regardless of whether the columns appear in the SELECT list. However, when a SELECT clause contains one or more aggregate functions, any column that is not included in a group function must be part of the GROUP BY clause.
