Agree. Host may be included in cluster and cluster not may be included in host.

A. Highest hierarchy for DEPLOYING is Datacenter, Highest hierarchy for RUNNING is Cluster !

I would agree with A too. When deploying VM from template you can choose Datacenter on the first step, and in the second and third vcenter asks for “Where to run” and there you must choose both cluster and specific host (with HA enabled).

So, for DEPLOYING, “A” would be correct

mmmm you must create the cluster then add the host then add the datastore to the host from there you can create resource pools etc. logically speaking I would have to go with cluster b
when in doubt cluster it out

If I go to the datacenter object on vcenter client and do a right click I have the option to deploy a VM, so I think A is the correct one.

FYI its B if you run thought the wizard the Cluster,Host,Vapp or RS pool is the options for deployment even if you deploy from the DC

To me it is also A. I also just deployed one from Template and I was able to DEPLOY it in the Datacenter. OBVIOUSLY, it’ll be running in the cluster..
