Why is the administrator unable to save the completed profile?

A.
The administrator does not have the proper vSphere edition so this feature is not licensed

B.
The Host Profiles service is stopped and must be restarted to access this option

C.
No ESXi hosts have been added to vCenter Server, and this option will not be available until at least one host is managed

D.
No DRS/HA Cluster has been defined, and Host Profiles must be applied to a cluster.

Answer should be option C:No ESXi hosts have been added to vCenter Server, and this option will not be available until at least one host is managed

Create a Host Profile from Host Profiles View
You can create a host profile from the Host Profiles main view using the configuration of an existing host.

Prerequisites
You must have a vSphere installation and at least one properly configured host in the inventory.

Its beacuse if you go to MGNT and then clickon create Profile you get the wizard and the first question is IMPORT or FROM HOST. If you dont have a host you cant CREATE a profile.

So what the question is suggesting is that you have one ESXi host from which the profile is created.

Just took the mock exam and VMware says it is A
I would not contest the answer with VMware

Begin but not able to save, which means it already pass the import/from host window.

I think A is right.

No ESXi hosts have been added to vCenter Server, and this option will not be available until at least one host is managed
Explanation: If a license exists for Host Profiles, the option will exist even if no ESX hosts have been added to vCenter Server.

VMware mock exam says answer A.
I (think) the valid explanation is that you can also choose to “import” an host profile and therefore you don’t need an existing host to be present…

Using host profiles is only supported for VMware vSphere 4.0 hosts or later. This feature is not supported for
VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or earlier hosts. If you have VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or earlier hosts managed by
your vCenter Server 4.0 or later, the following problems can occur if you try to use host profiles for those hosts:
n You cannot create a host profile that uses a VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or earlier host as a reference host.
n You cannot apply a host profile to any VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or earlier hosts. The compliance check
fails.
n While you can attach a host profile to a mixed cluster that contains VMware Infrastructure 3.5 or earlier
hosts, the compliance check for those earlier hosts fails.

Still pointing to the wrong answer…

“If a license exists for Host Profiles, the option will exist even if no ESX hosts have been added to vCenter Server.” according to the VMWare VCP 5 Mock test

Just took one of the 30 question mylearn.vmware.com tests and the answer was NOT C because of the following reason according to VMware:

“No ESXi hosts have been added to vCenter Server and this option will not be available until at least one host is managed because

If a license exists for Host Profiles, the option will exist even if no ESX hosts have been addeded to vCenter Server.”
