this is not correct! answer should be C, D, E
ISCSI is classed as IP storage and VmKernel port can be used for that
On the other hand “fault tolerant logging” not fault tolerant traffic can only be used by vmkernel.
TCP/IP Stack at the VMkernel Level
The VMware VMkernel TCP/IP networking stack provides networking support in multiple ways for each of the services it handles. The VMkernel TCP/IP stack handles iSCSI, NFS, and vMotion in the following ways.
• iSCSI as a virtual machine datastore.
• iSCSI for the direct mounting of .ISO files, which are presented as CD-ROMs to virtual machines.
• NFS as a virtual machine datastore.
• NFS for the direct mounting of .ISO files, which are presented as CD-ROMs to virtual machines.
• Migration with vMotion.
• Fault Tolerance logging.
• Port-binding for vMotion interfaces.
• Provides networking information to dependent hardware iSCSI adapters.
ESXi supports only NFS version 3 over TCP/IP.
So what the correct answer?
The provided answer here marked as right on other exam resources…
It’s vMotion, FT and Management. iSCSI is bound after the port is created. This can be verified by creating the vmk port, and seeing the only options that can be checked are vmotion, FT and mgmt traffic.
When using the Add Network Wizard this is the actual verbiage when you choose to create a VMKernel port:
“The VMkernel TCP/IP stack handles traffic for the following ESXi services: vSphere vMotion, iSCSI, NFS, and Host Management.”
I know this doesn’t clear things up since this suggests the answer is A (NFS), C (Management), D (iSCSI) and E (vMotion).
C (management) is a little ambiguous so I’d go with A, D and E.
Agreed with JR
GK plz proceed further with this Add Network wizard, on connection settings there are three check boxes i.e.
Use this port group for vMotion
Use this port group for Fault Tolerance logging
Use this port group for Management Traffic
So its clear that the answer is B,C,E
VCP exam questions are fucked. Why can’t they just expand on the information? They seem to give you just enough information to be misinformed. Why couldn’t they just ask, “When using the add network wizard, what three traffic options are shown for VMkernel?”
