Question is “how many paths will have an active status by default?” not available paths asked here .

tricky… there is only one datasore is available, if the policy is enabled, the preferred path to be used by the disk.

(Fixed – Always use the preferred path to the disk. So the preferred path to be set for the datastore, which is 1 active and preferred path to one availabe datasore as mentioned)

So i hope the correct answer should be C.

‘C’ looks logical, but according to this KB article ‘A’ is correct ….grrrr, yak 🙁

………………..
Fixed (Fixed) — Uses the designated preferred path flag, if it has been configured. Otherwise, it uses the first working path discovered at system boot time. If the ESX/ESXi host cannot use the preferred path or it becomes unavailable, ESX/ESXi selects an alternative available path. The host automatically returns to the previously-defined preferred path as soon as it becomes available again. This is the default policy for LUNs presented from an Active/Active storage array.

its asking how many paths will have an active status by default.
Its not asking what the maximum number of paths that could be used at any given time. you have four active paths and by default fixed is set up for active/active. So A) should be correct……that is what I gather

1st HBA – Active/Active
2nd HBA – Active/Active
Makes it 4.

The question states the host has four available paths and how many will show active? If it has four paths it will show all as active but one only one as Active (I/O) under the status column when you go into the Manage Paths option for a Datastore. So the answer is A because there are 4 active paths but only one with be Active (I/O)
