Refer to the Exhibit.
Which statement is true about the network performance of the virtual machine m the exhibit?
A.
The virtual machine can send traffic as fast as the underlying physical NIC.
B.
The underlying physical NIC is configured for lOOMbps/half-duplex.
C.
Virtual switch autonegotaahon settings must to be adjusted to improve performanc
D.
The virtual machine can send at the mai-nmum of 10Mbps.
I am totally dumbfounded that the answer is A. I would think that the maximum throughput depends soley on what the guest OS negotiates to or is configured at, which in this case is 10Mbps. So the answer should be D, which should read “The virtual machine can send at the maximum of 10Mbps. Can anyone explain why the answer is A?
Markitty. The portgroup may negotiate at 10mbps, BUT lets pretend that the uplinks connect to an older switch, and its super congested. Even though the 10baseT switch can switch at a maximum of 10mbps there’s ethernet & ip overhead, that accounts for approx 20-25%, PLUS periods of congestion may lower the bandwidth over all
So, you can never switch faster than the hardware will allow.
The virtual machine can send traffic as fast as the underlying virtual switch allows
