Will I be alerted when automatic failover occurs?
A.
Only if SNS configured
B.
No
C.
Yes
D.
Only if Cloudwatch configured
Explanation:
See http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_Events.html
Amazon RDS uses the Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS) to provide notification when an
Amazon RDS event occurs. These notifications can be in any notification form supported by Amazon SNS for
an AWS region, such as an email, a text message, or a call to an HTTP endpoint.
Amazon RDS groups these events into categories that you can subscribe to so that you can be notified when
an event in that category occurs.
C is not correct because even though event is created by RDS you will not be alerted for it unless you configure
your subscription in SNS.

I’m siding with Vladam and his rational on this one. Could be C too depending on your definition of what being alerted actually means. I think an example of an alert would be an SMS (requires SNS) and not an event in a log but could go either way I suppose. Just get every other question right and this one won’t matter.
