In General, We should not or Cannot detach a root device while an instance is running. For Example in Virtual Environment, Can you remove/detach a virtual HDD from a VM while it is running. If you do,What happens…..So the Answer is Option B : No

B, we can un mount EBS volume attached seperatly, but we cannot unmount root instance EBS volume.
