An organization’s security policy requires multiple copies of all critical data to be replicated across at least a
primary and backup data center. The organization has decided to store some critical data on Amazon S3.
Which option should you implement to ensure this requirement is met?
A.
Use the S3 copy API to replicate data between two S3 buckets in different regions
B.
You do not need to implement anything since S3 data is automatically replicated between regions
C.
Use the S3 copy API to replicate data between two S3 buckets in different facilities within an AWS Region
D.
You do not need to implement anything since S3 data is automatically replicated between multiple facilities
within an AWS Region
it seems that this question wants to emphasise below ( s3 faq – https://aws.amazon.com/s3/faqs/ )
You specify a region when you create your Amazon S3 bucket. Within that region, your objects are redundantly stored on multiple devices across multiple facilities. Please refer to Regional Products and Services for details of Amazon S3 service availability by region.
Yes, I agree with Leeys, D is the correct answer.
Although there is Cross Region Replication available for storing in different regions, D is correct answer:
Q: Where is my data stored?

What about the backup copy of your data ? It is always wiser to choose the CRR in case of critical data. They haven’t mentioned about cost minimizing so, option A is perfect. This has been suggested by one of the AWS architect.
perfecto
Hi Venkat,
Can you please refer with the url if you go with A. As per my best knowledge i can be D. but i am not ignoring your opinion as you have mentioned “AWS Architect”
Thanks,
Mani
Saw this question on the SAA exam! The answer is D.
Although, by default, Amazon S3 stores your data across multiple geographically distant Availability Zones, compliance requirements might dictate that you store data at even further distances. Cross-region replication allows you to replicate data between distant AWS regions to satisfy these compliance requirements.
Cross region replication is new and was not available at the time of creating the test questions.
The correct answer is: C) Use the S3 copy API to replicate data between two S3 buckets in different facilities within an AWS Region
a
The answer should be D. As the question tells “replicate across primary and backup data center”.
In AWS “Data Center” nothing but “Availability Zones”.
Further reads,

Q: How do I enable S3 Cross-Region Replication (CRR)?
CRR is a bucket-level configuration. You enable a CRR configuration on your source bucket by specifying a destination bucket in a different region for replication.
The answer is D
D
D
D is correct, just need replicate across more than one DC/AZ
