DRAG DROP
Ten client computers run Windows Vista and a custom application. The custom application is
compatible with Windows 8.
You purchase 10 new computers that have Windows 8 pre-installed. You plan to migrate
user settings and data from the Windows Vista computers to the Windows 8 computers.
You install the User State Migration Toolkit (USMT) on a USB flash drive.
You need to ensure that the custom application settings are applied to the Windows 8
computers after the migration is complete.
Which three actions should you perform in sequence? (To answer, move the appropriate
actions from the list of actions to the answer area and arrange them in the correct order.)

Answer here should be
Run scanstate on vista machine
Install customer app onto windows 8
run loadstate on windows 8 machine
Load state is listed twice. That’s a no no. Scan state should be first as that is the order of operation for USMT
This is a poorly worded question. I agree with the two comments, but the installation of the software on the Windows 8 PC before the scanstate occurs. I selected:
Install the custom application on Windows 8
Perform ScanState
Perform LoadState.
This is technically correct too.
Your answer isn’t clear either John, where do you perform the scanstate on? The Vista or Win 8?
Harvs and alex is correct:
1. perform scanstate on vista.
2. install the apps on win 8.
3. perform loadstate on win 8.
The scanstate should run on vista. I agree since you migrate from Vista to Win8.
@TimDuncan is right. The order should be,
1. perform scanstate on vista.
2. install the apps on win 8.
3. perform loadstate on win 8.
Agree with Prasanthan and TimDuncan.
