The correct answer is D. Message Digest Algorithm creates a hash value and uses a one-way hash. The hash value is used to help maintain integrity. There are several versions of MD; the most common are MD5, MD4, and MD2.

Lake and Leanne are correct. The correct answer is Integrity. Messaged Digest (MD) hashing is one-way encryption, designed to show that something has not changed. It does not preserve confidentiality, as the information cannot be retrieved once hashed. It can be used for non-repudiation in emails, but this is a file server. It does not assist with availability. It will show that files have not changed.

Encryption is confidentiality
Digital signature is Non repudiation and sometime integrity (because it includes a hash)
Hash-Integrity
Certificate Identity
some basic standards

Who wrote these? They obviously haven’t used spell check a day in their lives, nor have they opened a text book. So many of these answers are wrong. Are these answers actually wrong on the real CompTIA Security + test? Or only wrong on this site?? I would hate to take the test and fail due to actually choosing the correct answers.
