A company has Windows 8.1 client computers.
Users frequently run a custom web application that modifies the system registry. Each time
the application starts, the user is prompted for administrative approval.
You need to ensure that users can run the custom application and not be prompted for
administrator approval.
What should you do?
A.
Turn off Windows SmartScreen.
B.
Set the Internet zone privacy level to Low.
C.
Set the User Account Control (UAC) settings to Never notify.
D.
Set the Internet zone security level to Medium.
Never notify isnt necessarily right i don’t think – this assumes that the user is an administrator…
I would say A is the most valid answer given the information provided?
Smartscreen is used to prevent users from visiting phising sites when using IE – nothing to do with application.
That leaves answer C as the only viable option among the answer. Although I’d prefer to use applocker and create a rule based on publisher.
Agree the answer is C

In Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, SmartScreen has been integrated into the operating system. It is no longer just a security feature included in Internet Explorer. It is at the core of Internet Explorer, File Explorer and Windows Store apps. It checks all the websites you are visiting, the files you are running and the URLs loaded by apps, to make sure they are secure. If you are trying to run an unfamiliar app that’s not used by other Windows users, you are warned.
You can set whether you need to get administrator approval (default setting) or not, before running an unrecognized app.

(A) makes the most sense, though not recommended
