What’s the answer to this question? A or B

A.Hazem

A.Hazem

The answer should be “B”. It was clearly stated in the course e-learning on vmware website.

I think A,

imminent means that it is about to happen and not that it has. I though VMware would not move servers prior to a server failure unless you move them or DRS has a reason. That it would not move just because a server might fail soon.

Ok i needed to re-read that question. It does say proactively migrate so that does make perfect sense that it is A. Helps is i actually read the question.

In the Official Certification guide;

When looking at different types of availability, you can break it down into these categories:

Hardware— Where an administrator needs to take into account the potential for failure of physical hardware and how the environment reacts to a server that is physically having a component failure. Generally, these errors are catastrophic and need to be addressed before operation can continue normally. Application— Where the application needs to have recoverable features for detecting a failure. Generally, these errors are fixed by a service or server restart (whether automatic or manual) or by steps inside the code of the application.

Maintenance— Where the administrator needs to be able to perform maintenance but maintain the availability of resources in the physical environment with as little downtime as possible. Environmental— Where the administrator needs to ensure that environmental issues (disaster, power failure, and so on) enable the business to continue functioning, even if it is at a reduced capacity. Generally, this results in recovery or failover to a different site or datacenter that is not affected by the issue.

B is more comprehensive than A.

B – From vSphere Avialability Guide:
vSphere makes it possible for organizations to dramatically reduce planned downtime. Because workloads
in a vSphere environment can be dynamically moved to different physical servers without downtime or
service interruption, server maintenance can be performed without requiring application and service
downtime.
