HOTSPOT
An organization prepares to migrate to Office 365. The organization has one domain controller named
NYC-DC1 and one server named NYC-DS that is designated as the directory synchronization computer.
The organization has the following servers:
You plan to upgrade the servers to support directory synchronization.
You must upgrade each server to meet only the minimum requirements by using the least amount of
administrative effort.
You need to ensure that you can use the Windows Azure Active Directory Sync tool to synchronize the
local Active Directory with Office 365.
What should you do? Select the correct action from each list in the answer area.

“Azure AD Connect must be installed on Windows Server 2008 or later. This server may be a domain controller or a member server if using express settings. If you use custom settings, the server can also be stand-alone and does not have to be joined to a domain.
If you install Azure AD Connect on Windows Server 2008, make sure to apply the latest hotfixes from Windows Update. The installation is not able to start with an unpatched server.”
Unsure why we need 2008 R2 when 2008 will do according to the prerequisites listed on page reference.
Am I missing something?
No you are not. Correct answer should be Option 1 and Option 1
Agreed with Vietnam. https://docs.microsoft.com/nl-nl/azure/active-directory/active-directory-aadconnect-prerequisites
On-premises servers and environment:
The AD schema version and forest functional level must be Windows Server 2003 or later.
Azure AD Connect must be installed on Windows Server 2008 or later.
Also, the client is 64bit only, that is why the answer explicitly includes 64-bit version of 2008.
What’s the correct answer? I don’t see a 64-bit requirement on the link…
Wouldn’t it be the least administrative effort to install 2008 R2 because it functions straight away versus 2008 which you have to patch before it will work?
Azure AD Connect would require Windows Server 2012 R2 for the lease amount of updates.
have you already cleared MCSA exam?
correct Answer is
1. Raise the forest functional level to windows 2003 server
2. Install the 64-bit version of windows server 2008 standard edition
It’s a tricky question, keep in mind, if you have a Win 2008 (pre-R2), then you must also apply hotfix KB2386717, so the best way if you have to change your S.O is to install the 2008 R2 and that’s all (no hotfix requiered).
